The Big Tartini Band was formed in 2012 as a specific project of the Tartini Conservatory of Trieste
through the initiative of Klaus Gesing,
composer, improviser and saxophone player.
The BTB plays different authors and genres, ranging from Count Basie to modern composers
such as Maria Schneider and Chick Corea.
Particular importance is given to the presentation of compositions written by jazz students,
including Piovesan’s works, through which he developed techniques of writing, orchestration and arrangement.
The BTB debuted in 2012 at the first edition of Salone Trieste Next.
Since then, the band has performed on prestigious national and international stages,
such as the Mittelfest in Cividale del Friuli.
